The 20 Roles of a Masterful Meeting Leader

Masterful Meeting is the term we use at Leadership Strategies to refer to a vision of what all meetings should be. In summary, a Masterful Meeting can be described as follows:
A Masterful Meeting is well-prepared, well-executed, and results-oriented with a timely start, a decisive close, and a clear follow-up plan.
Meeting leaders are ultimately responsible for the quality and effectiveness of their meetings. To achieve a masterful meeting, a meeting leader should do the following 20 things:
Planning and Preparing
- Determine the meeting type, purpose, and products.
- Select participants.
- Identify probable issues that need to be addressed.
- Develop the proposed agenda.
- Select the processes that will be used in executing the agenda, and define the engagement strategies.
- Hold discussions as needed prior to the meeting.
- Select the meeting location, and handle other logistics.
- Prepare and distribute the meeting notice.
