Facilitators are always looking for ways to spice up their sessions, and providing a good visual representation of the group’s feedback is a fun way to do that when your meeting draws to a close. Wordle.net is a tool for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.

One of our Certified Master Facilitators recently conducted a “whip” engagement strategy with our internal team. The whip was used to encourage participants to summarize our thoughts on the meeting in one word. To help the facilitator quickly assess the group’s overall feedback, he used Wordle.net to capture each participant’s word.  Look at the word cloud generated below to see how our group felt about the session that day, and check out Wordle for yourself at www.wordle.net.
