New England Transportation Consortium closes meeting solving 12 issues, defines new direction

Members of the New England Transportation Consortium (NETC) recently met after over eight years since its last NETC retreat to review its program, address issues, and discuss changes. The NETC is a research cooperative between the state Departments of Transportation of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The group was formed as a regional partner for the identification, prosecution and dissemination of shared transportation research initiatives.

Amanda Hanaway-Corrente, NETC Coordinator, helped her group achieve a successful direction planning meeting involving issue resolution and strategic planning. Amanda partnered with Leadership Strategies to arrange a two-day retreat for the NETC Advisory Committee, who identified a need to review the NETC program, its mission, business, and policies and procedures. After the two-day facilitated session led by Leadership Strategies’ facilitator, Andrea Young, the group walked away solving 12 distinct issues surrounding the NETC’s mission and vision, funding, and policies and procedures under which NETC operates its research program.

Amanda commented on her initial experience of finding a facilitator to meet the group’s needs, “I contacted Leadership Strategies while searching for a meeting facilitator online.  Their website was easy to find and navigate.  Their staff was friendly and incredibly responsive.  The meeting was quickly approaching, so I was feeling to pressure to secure a skilled facilitator who would fit the needs of our meeting agenda and attendees, while maintaining budgetary constraints.”

After the facilitated retreat concluded, Amanda shared, “Leadership Strategies was able to find a local facilitator who had experience in our line of work, as well as secure an agreed-upon work plan and contract, in what seemed like the blink of an eye, maybe as short as one week’s time in real life.  The facilitator was highly skilled and thoroughly prepared when it came down to the meeting time.  The facilitator’s ability to organize the group was so impressive that even I have been considering taking some classes to learn the tricks of the trade.  Throughout the meeting, and in the following weeks, I have heard nothing but rave reviews from the meeting attendees.  One of them even asked me for the facilitator’s contact information for a future meeting she was organizing.  I would recommend Leadership Strategies to all of my peers and colleagues.  The Business Developer, Holly Larson, and Facilitator, Andrea Young, were a dream to work with!”
